Why am I a Methodist? Is there one key distinction of being
Methodist?
Grace. Amazing grace. Undeserved favour from God.
The Methodist scholar, Kenneth J. Collins writes,
The key theme in [John] Wesley’s theology... is the grace of God.
From the creation of humanity to the glorification of the saints,
from the gift of conscience to the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit,
and from the conviction of sin to the restoration of the love of God
and neighbour in the human heart, the grace of God is over
all...In fact, there is no point in Wesley’s theology of salvation
where divine grace is not the leading motif... Simply put, grace
is the first chord struck in Wesley’s theology.1
As we take this devotional journey of God’s amazing grace that
has saved us, is saving us and will save us, I pray that we will
personally experience Him, by the power of the Holy Spirit,
that enables us to walk in the ways of God.
